It loft Lawrence at 12.45 for Roxburgh, and when ascending the long hill-about a mile and a-half past the Beaumont the car stopped. Tho driver got out to fix matters, but directly he touched the crank the car ran back. He tried to jump back to his seat, but before he could gain control tho. motor backed over the edge of the road, ran down a deep 'gully, and turned right over. The passengers were Mr Edward Roberts, Mr Smith (representing Scoullar Bros.), Mr Lane (Bing, Harris, and Co.), and Mr Colin Ounn, all of Dunedin. Strange' to say, no one was seriously hurt. Mr Hoberts and Mr Lane were pinned under the car, but got off with a few bruises. The driver was thrown some J&i&BSS* but «wftft?d with a ghakina.
