The recount of votes in the Mataura electorate was completed yesterdav. Result: Restoration, 2,585*; No-license, 2,901; informal 182. National Continuance, 2.564 : National Prohibition, 2,ii27; informal, 178. The recount at Ashburton resulted as follows :—National Prohibition : Continuance, 3,449; for Prohibition, 2,683. Local Ontion: For Restoration, 3,511; against Restoration, 2,611. The result of the official count at Pert Chalmers, whu-h w.ie completed yesterday evening, is as follows:—Local * Option: Continuance 3,200, No-lioe«se # _3,tt25, informal 222. National Prohibition : • Continuance 2,933, for Prohibition 3,209, infoimal 305. The weakening of the Nolicense vote as compared with last election is attributed by the map. in the street to an alleged endeavor to put the Teligious issue ahead of tho political issue.
