(Received December 12, at 9.00 a.m.) The Waterside Workers’ Union have decided to sacrifice themselves temporarily in support of the “dry canteen” movement, as a protest against the higher prices of beer. Since the increased price was levied they have retrained from imbibing. MORE TAXATION. MELBOURNE, December 12. (Received December 12, at 9.00 a.m.) A Bill covering new death duties has been introduced in the Federal House of Repr esen tatives. NEW HEBRIDES. ANOTHER AMBRYM OUTBREAK. SYDNEY, December 12. (Received December 12, at 9.50 a.m.) New Hebrides reports state that several earthquake shocks were experienced recently. The two big .volcanoes at Ambrym Island are active. The lake near Ambrvm overflowed and overwhelmed two villages, and about 20 natives perished.
