SCHOOLS' SWIMMING CARNIVAL
AT MUNICIPAL BATHS. There was a largo and enthusiastic attendance of children at the Municipal Baths yesterday afternoon, when a schools' swimming carnival, organised bv Mr E. H. Old?, the instructor, was held. Thn fine display given by the boys was evidence ot thi! value of the training which had been given them in the art. Each cvept aroused the keenest enthusiasm, and the winners were loudly cheered. During the afternoon Crs Green and Marlow were present. - Results : Relay Race for Standard IV. (beginners). —First hent: High Street 1. Second heat: Maori Hill 1. Third heat: MorayPlace 1 Fourth heat: Momington 1. Fifth heat: Arthur Street 1. Sixth heat: George Street 1 Seventh heat: Kensington 1. Eighth heat: Albany Street 1. Sixteen competitors in all. Final: MorayPlace 1 Arthur Street 2, High Street 3. Championship for Standard IV. (begin ners). —First heat: C. Ritchio (Forbury) 1. Second heat: Burrows (Kensington) I. Third heat. Broberg (Christian Brothers) 1. About 20 competed. Final: Ritchie 1, Burrows 2, Broberg 3. Championship for Standard IV. (open). —First heat: R. Penhey (High Street) 1, D. Jacobs (Moray Place) 2. Second heat: R. Watt (Arthur Street) 1, W. Sims (George Street) 2. About 18 competitors. Final: Watt 1, Penhey 2, Sims 3.
Schools Championship.—First heat: G. Stables (Maori Hill) 1, 0. Berry (iMoray Place) 2. Second heat: W. Barr (Arthur Street) 1, John Brov/n (Normal) 2. About 16 competed. Final: Barr 1, Brown 2, Stables 3.
Springboard Dive—A. Eckhoff (Arthur Street) 1, D. Watt (Arthur Street) 2. Close on 60 competed. The exhibition waa very creditable, tho diving being in many instances neat, and a very fair distance being reached.
