TO HIE KDtTOft. Sir, —In furtherance, of an- opinion expressed by "5,A.8." in your last evening's issue, I (and no doubt many others) was of the direct understanding that half the proceeds of the local collection on Saturday last were to bo devoted to the Belgian relief fund. Tho various stands, etc., blazoned forth in Belgian coloring and decoration, distinctly gave one the impression that the collection was mainly for that purpose Also, very few of the collectors represented the hospital side'of tho collection. Therefore, was not the Hospital Association collecting under a rather thin veil to announce finally that only a meagre 25 per cent, was being devoted to that now plucky and deserving nation, the Belgians? No' small wonder, therefore, that the collection realised so large an amount.—l am, etc., F.O.G. December 3.
