SHIPWRECK RELIEF SOCIETY

The executive of the Shipwieck Relief Society met yesterday afternoon, Mr C. W. Ctttamberlain presiding. Messrs G. B. Bullock, G. Alport, and C W. Jonee wrote agreeing to- represent the society in Wellington. The Chairman said that the rpjarieily repoit was before the meeting. }fe thought it was a decidedly favorable one. The sum of £lO was required to relieve, and this; sum has been forwarded. On September 26 a telegram was sent to Captain Fleming, asking if any relief was necessary in connection with the stranding of the barque Anglo Norman ; but no application for relief hafi l>een made Or October 9 a telegram was sent to the Mayor of GiVborne in connection with ths wreck of the Kotuuui. On October 27 a telegram was sent to i ho. Collector of Customs, Invcrcargill, asking if any asistanco was necessary jr: connection with the wreck of the schooner Resetta at- Ruapuke Island. Advice, has been received that no a.'hisfauce is required. Since the last- meting tho sum of £137 15s 4ct has been received from the Union Steam Ship Company, being amounts collected on board their steamers.—The repoit was approved of. fbe bank book showed a, credit balance of £156 14s lOd and a few small outstanding accounts which would have to come off this were passed for payment. It was decided to telegraph to the Collector of Customs, Napier, asking what assistance was required in connection with the surf boat accident over tendering the Kahu. Messrs J. A. Park and G. R, Ritchie, together with the hon. trea«uror and chairman, were appointed a sub-committee for the ensuing quarter.
