‘THE TIMES HISTORY OF THE WAR’
IN FOUR FINE VOLUMES.
The London ‘Times’ announces that it will publish an adequate history of the great war of all the centuries in a set of finely illustrated volumes, under tho general title of ‘The Times History of the War.’ It is fitting that this greatest of all newspapers should set out to publish this history of the greatest world conflict in a form worthy of the subject. ‘“The Times” History of the War,’ in volume form,” writes ‘The Times’ itself, “ is destined to take its place as the most accurate and authoritative record of the gigantic European struggle now in progress. Being the product of the unique organisation of ’The Timas,’ this History will constitute a work of permanent imSortanco and value—a wort which every ritish citizen should read and preserve if ho is intelligently to understand > the causes and issues of this titanic conflict." The ‘ Daily Mail ’ says: “ ‘ Tho Times History of the War’ will be one of the standard authorities on the war for our children and their children. It does not compete with any other war history any more than ‘The Times’ competes with any other newspaper, for, while popular, it is practically official.’’ In spite of tho enormous demand in England for the volumes of ‘The Times History of the War,’ the proprietors have arranged to ship a generous number of sets to Australia and New Zealand, and have placed the sole control of these volumes in the hands of tha Australian publisher, Mr T. Shaw Fitchett, Swanston street, Melbourne. Any of our readers may secure—without cost and without obligation—an illustrated prospectus of ‘The Times Histoiy of tho War’ in volume form by sending the coupon from 'the advertisement appearing elsewhere in this issue to the Australian publisher. 1/12/14. ’
