GERMANY IN ASIA MINOR.
There is one vast region where German expansion has been a conspicuous success. The achievements of Germany in Asia Minor have been so momentous, opening up such far-reaching visions of world empire, that they more than counterbalance her disappointments in other parts. In the case of the Baghdad Bailway, French filatesmon have promoted German claims, and England, in her desire to conciliate her neighbors, has betrayed some vital Imperial interests, ami has allowed Germany to assume a- formidable position, threatening both Egypt and India, a position from which she i.s not likely to retreat, and vet from which she will have to retreat If an armed conflict is to be avoided.—Dr 0. Sarolea, 1912.
