NEAV ZEAIAND ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of tho council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held at Wellington. The report stated that increased interest was taken in amateur athletics, and reference was made to the great- strides sport had made in the Dominion. This was evidenced by the increased number of clubs in active operation, by tho large access of strength to the clubs, the number of successful sports meetings held throughout New Zealand, and the greatly increased public interest, all of which was in no small measure due to the successful visit of the American track and field team. The council were extremely gratified to find so many amateur athletes at present on active service, and their absence would be felt during the coming season. It was hoped that the funds from .sports meetings during the coming year would, wherever possible, be devoted to entirely patriotic purposes. Owing to the heavy outlay last year, through the American tour 'and the sending of a, team to Australia, the balance-sheet .showed an excess of expenditure ovc> - receipts of £2lB 5s sd. but tho assets of the council made a balance of £2 5s over tho liabilities. It was decided that the. New Zealand championship meeting be allocated to Auckland this year, the date to be fixed by December. 'Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: —Chairman, Mi; J. 11. Pollock ; vice-presidents, Alessrs W. Larkin and W. H. Pollock; lion, secretary, Afr J. C. Cusack; hon. treasurer. Ah* A.
