Tbc AVorks Committee recommend that authority be granted to purchase tin area of 4.4 poles, situate in Belgravc crescent, for the sum of £35. The land has for some considerable time been used by the public, and the committee are of opinion that it should be secured now nnil kept open for public use. The city engineer has boon instructed to provide a month’s work for eight rtonebreakers usually employed by Ihe council. The Water Committee recommend that authority bo granted to renew the pipe services in Aberfeldy, Thomson and Robertson streets, and Lindsay road with 4in mains, at an estimated cost of £312; and to lay a 4in main in London street, In the block between Constitution street and lieriot row, at an estimated cost of £6O. That the application of tho Taieri County Council for a £ for £ subsidy to cover the cost of putting in good order that portion of ihe whore Flat read lying between the school and LeisHman’s promises, the total cost of tho work being estimated at £ls, be granted. The ueneral Committee recommend that authority be granted to purchase an additional dray and harness for the sanitary department. This plant is required owing to the fuel that the filling in at. the refuse lips iu Gladstone road has been completed, nnet consequently all the refuse from that; area has to be taken to the Albany street tip.. The Reserves Commit too report that the erection of the baud kiosk at the Botanic Gardens has now been completed, and the official opening of same has been referred to the chairman (Cr Todd) and tho superintendent of reserves to arrange. The Electric Power and Lighting Committee recommend that the tender of tho National Electrical and Engineering Company, Ltd., for the supply and delivery of one 3,000-volt regulator at ihe convertor station for the sum of £474 be accepted. The Tramways Committee recommend (hat. the sum of £SO bo voted by their department. as a subsidy to the several bands taking part in ihe snbsitSsod performances during the present season.
