A Wellington telegram say*:—Thames William Madden, aged 76, ■who cut hia throat in an hotel -where he had been employed as cook* succumbed to his in* juries. He came from Auckland, and had been in ill-health. The wound itself wa t not serious, but his general health militated against his recovery. At the inquest a verdict of suicide while mentally, Axiaiuzed was returned.
