On board tho transport VerdaJa this I morning at Port Chalmers a shipwright named John Nikander fell some distance down one of the holds, landing on a'heap of coal. Medical aid was summoned, and he was conveyed to tho cottage hospital, but if. was stated do serious injuries had. been sustained. The body of Patrick M'Cran lor M'Cann), who disappeared from Murchison (nine miles from Westport) on tho 26th October, was found in Hie Puller piver at- Westport. -A verdict of “Found drowned." and that there is no evident** as to hove lie got into the river, was returned.—\V estport i cleg rain.
