The monthly meeting of the Given Island School Committee was attended hy Messrs D. Taylor (chairman), E. Duncan. H. Clarke, \V. Johnston, H. Harra-.vay. W. Watson. J. Orr, and W. Herbisen. Tire Head Master reported that the aver attendance for the past month was ; Boys, 183; girls, 174; total, 357. The present roil number was 384. A very successful gard'-u party was held in the school grounds for the purpose of rawing funds lor tennis material, etc., and the amount raised ■'•as C 5 'M Ml. A communication from Mrs Spricht, making an appeal to the ..-h-ildreti to foro their annual Christinas piw-cnl.3. and tiie sum to be sent to the hritish and Belgian Relief Fund, was held ovr until next meeting. A circular from the Overseas Club, requesting that a collection be made amon» the children in aid of the Belgian Relief Fund, received approval, and was handed over to the head master. Reference was made by the chairman to the death of the Hon. T. Fergus, and the secretary was instructed to forward a letter of condolence to Mrs Fergus and fuofy'
