The balance-sheet for the past year was submitted, and on the motion of Mr Somerville, seconded by Mr M'Millan. was adopted. The following office-bearers wer? elected: —Patron," His Worship the Mayor; president, Mr J. Bennie; vicepresidents—Messrs J. H. Walker and H. H. Todd; executive —Messrs T. Somerville, E. A. At the conclusion of the general meeting a meeting of the executive was held. A letter wan received from the Minister of External Affairs, in reply _to the society’s application for permission to hold an art union in connection with the hue. and enclosing the necessary application form to bo completed.—lt was resolved that the prizes for the art union be g-un nuggets valued at £ls and £lO, and that the usual amount be voted for the seller of most tickets.
Tlio Otago Patriotic and Welfare Association Employment and Relief Committee wrote staling that- they would subsidise to the extent of £SO the sum which the Garden Fete Soucy iiad allocated for improvements to the Southern Oval, all labor to be supplied by the commit t>e. The committee asked that the society's cheque be forwarded to their treasure).--It was reeolvcd that £SO be forward^!. It was resolved to hold the fete on Wednesday, December 16. The" Programme Committee submitted a pronramnve of events. —Approved. The following were appointed convmers of the various sections : Cricket, Mr A. Martin; bowling, Mr J. C. Short ; r,ide shows, Mr D. H. Thomson ; refreshments, Messrs T. Somerville and E. A. Anacombe; rose tent, Mr I>. Tannoek : concert and entertainments, Messrs J. Rennie and R. Bennell: competitions, Mr J. W. Smith; decorations and lightings, Mr E. A. Anscombe.
