' ANNUAL SPORTS. The annual athletic sports o? the Otago IJwj-s' High School were held on Saturday "afternoon at Carisbrook Ground. There Wa« »n attendance of several hundred boys, parents, and fri'ends, and the sport*; as usual, were a complete success; Entries in all events were large, and competitors keen, and the boys showed the spirit of true sport. The turf was in good condition for running, and although it seemed as if rain was threatening to fall, the weather fortunately, kept fine. All the officials carried out their duties to the complete satisfaction of both competitors and spectators. Mr J. Reid was an obliging and ; energetic secretary, and ■ Messrs HL J. Colvin and N. K. Gray were most attentive to their duties as Press stewards. The fine form shown by meet of the boys was in a large measure due to the training they had received under Mr W. Lloyd Phillips, gymnastic instructor at. the school. The monetary profit of the sports, which is usually devoted to the sports fund, will this year be given to the patriotic fund, as also will the proceeds from the tea. rooms, the soft drinks, stall, and the sale of bouquets. The tea rooms were under the- management of Mrs Morrell, who, was assisted by ladies of the 0.8.H.5. Jubilee Committee. Mies Stewart, Miss Burt, an Miss Allen Had charge of the soft drinks stall, and pupils arid ex-pupils of the Girls' High School assisted in the sale of bouquets. In the senior challenge cup competition W. E. Holmes was the victor, with 21 points, W. A. Churchill and H. Townrow being second, with 13 points each. The junior cup was won by J. Y.
