AMATEUR ATHLETICS

.... ♦ ■ 1 - - SECESSION IN NEW SOUTH WALES. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, October 23. A meeting of the council of the Now South Wales Amateur Athletic Association, bv 16 votes to 9, resolved to secede from the Amateur Sporting Federation, whereupon the chairman and secretary of tho former body resigned as a potest. The cause of the secession is a longstanding one. It arose over the federation ruling that all men participating in Rugby League football were professional.!, whether money was obtained or not. Among't the allegations regarding profes-’ sionalism that were made was that three members of the All Black team were professional runners. The meeting subsequently discussed the formation of a new body ci control, but the amateur athletic unions of Australia and New Zealand are not likely to recognise such a body, and nothing was done.
