Mr A Lang, who far the past throe and a-nalf years has repreeentod the Voottr Men's Christian Association of Nav Zealand and iustnjJla an general secretory of the Y.M.C.A. at Hyderabad, Deccan, India* bus returned on furlough, and will b* oununencing a tear of the New Zealand associations at an early date. Mr Lang *rriv»d in Auckland on Tuesday, and is due to reach Dunedin on Saturday next, when ho will confer with the New Zealand Foreign Weak Executive regarding the plans tor Ms tow litroueh the associations. The worh at Hyderabad under Mr Lang’s supervision has made remarkable advance. In addition to the enlargement ol the central braiding and a much-increased membership, a sthdent branch has been established, and has already enrolled some 300 members. The work at the Secunderabad branch among the eoktiere has been developed, and the whole outlook is pregnant With possibilities. It is in part to lay this clearly before the Australasian associations that he is now returning, and to make the student work thoroughly efficient and fruitful is his objective. After visiting some of the northern centres Mr Lang will conduct a series of meetings in Dunedin. A meeting of the Board of Directors was held on Tuesday evening at the building.- Moray pi,ice. Mr Herbert Webb presided. A welcome was extended to Mr T. C. Ross, recently elected to the directorate. A letter was received from Mr H. W. Airey, accepting a seal on the board. The general secretary reported that Mr W. Hislop, of CSmstchnrch, had accepted the position of assistant secretary, vnd will commence his duties the second keek in May, The following officers were jlected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr John Roes; vice-presidents, Mr H. K. TV ilt into a and Captain C. F. Sundstrum; lon. vice-president. Mr Herbert Webb. The financial statements of the general and trust accounts presented by tie Finance Committee were adopted. De-tail-mental accounts were passed for payment. The Bath Committee's financial vtatement showed a credit balance nouth. The House Commitee’s recommendation that a sub-committee of the residents in the budding be appointed was approved. The Membership Committee presented for approval SI applications for membership. On the recommendation ol Vhe committee it was resolved that the Otercbership and financial years be coincident, also that the first year's subscription be paid in full on joining the Association, and that the renewal be pro rata, covering tie period to the led of the financial year. The Religions Work Committee'reported fb© commencement of four extra classes during the month of March. Hyderabad Sunday, observed on March 15, was a great success. Details of classes and meetings covering the work ol the committee were presented. The Social Work Committee reported on the strangers’ teas and other social gatherings. A largo number of organisations are using the building for meetings. The physical director repotted on the attendances at the gymnasium classes. A basket ball league, composed of the association’s athletic clubs, has been organised. Reports were presented by the cricket, hockey, and harrier chibs. The Junior Department Committee reported a total attendance of 412 for the month of March. The new games and equipment recently provided were being largely used. The stamp dub, Bible dass, and boys' cabinet meetings were also reported on. The general secretary reported that the ladies’ auxiliary had th© arrangements in hand for holding a large sale of work the first weak in October, The departmental com- • mittees for the ensuing year were appointed.
