RACIAL FRUGALITY. A Scot and his wife were at sea together—in the literal sense—and had just left the dinner table. There was sufficient roll to produce internal uneasiness, and the husband was seen to be making progress to the side of the vessel, when his wife intervened. “Remember, John,” she said,. “ you’ve just had your dinner, and it’s paid for.”
