On Saturday afternoon the hulv of a man was seen floating near Taranak'i street wharf, Wellington. AVhen recovered fiv the police it was found to bo much decomposed. rendering identification a matter 0 f difficulty. Later the body was identified as that of Leonard Price,‘a wharf laborer. Hi was last seen on November 21. David APQuinton was knocked down bv a tramcar in AVillin street, Wellington, on Saturday night, and seriously injured. ’ He was taken to the hospital, but the exact nature of his hurls is not ascertainable. M'Quinton was still unconscious yesterday morning. Jean Btuart, a nurse by profession, who has been staying at a house in North terrace, Wellington, and receiving attention, took poison during .Saturday night, and died early yesterday morning. She had been in indifferent health of late. The Superintendent of Police yesterday received the following telegram from the police at Oamaru: —'‘Body of man found in harbor to-day ; been in water some time and past identification. About 3ft llin in height,, but nothing to show who- ho is. there were nine single pound notes (National Bank) on the body, which was dressed m a dark worsted suit with light check running through it, black cashmere socks, and boots much worn. A p A telegram received to-dav states that the body has not yet been identified. An_ Ashburton message states that this morning the body of an elderly man named William Baker, who had been employed at Crum Brothers and Dryhrnerg’fl brickworks at Allenton, was found hanging by a rope from a rafter at the brick kiln. The deceased, who is sa id to be about 59 years of age, appeared to be in his usual health when last seen alive ax 8.30 last night. The deceased came from Woolston to Ashburton about a fortnight ago, and had since resided with his wife in the suburbs of Ashburton.
