Sir Henry Whittaker Trickett, known .as “the slipper lung,” died at his residence, Waterfoot, Manchester, on the night of August 4 last. Sir Henry, who was 56 years of age, was head of the firm of H. W, Trickett, Ltd., and founder of the slipper industry in the Rossendale Valley. He had a romantic career, starting work when eight years of age as an apprentice to the felt trade. Some year's later he started business as a slipper manufacturer in a small way with half a dozen hands. At the time of his death he was head of a business with 1,300 or 1,400 employees.
