IRISH HOME RULE
SIR E. CARSON’S CAMPAIGN. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, May 17. Speaking at the opening of the Unionist Drill Hall at East Belfast, Sir E. Carson, K.C., said that force would be used only as a last resort to beat back those who would dare to barter away the loyalists’ elementary rights of citizenship. He declined to he a party to any compromise on the Home Rule Bill, and declared that Ulster adhered to her covenant. The King must be satisfied that the Bill had the overwhelming support of his subjects, and any Minister advising him to sign the Bill was incurring a grave, almost desperate, responsibility.
