KAIKORAI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Quite a number of parents have criticised my action in supporting tho above committee in. the decision not to permit the upper standards to participate with other schools in the Christchurch trip. I should like to state that I am not a member of the Kaikorai School Committee this year. ■ The reason for my not accepting nomination at the last annual meeting was that, with the committee as it has long been constituted, energy and enthusiasm are of no account. The aggregate age of this wonderful body is over 500 years; and although in the past they have done splendid work, most of them have now- outlived their usefulness, and should retire and play bowls. To them the head master’s merest whim is a mandate, and of far greater importance than the dearest wishes of their grandchildren.—l am, etc., A. Barnett. Alay ID.
