BIG BLAZE AT EKETAHUNA
SHOPS DESTROYED. [Per United Press Association.] EKETAHUNA, May 19. • Fire in Main street at 5.30 a.in. yesterday destroyed Turnor and Co.’s butcher’s shop and contents and Mrs Wolfe’s stationery shop and contents, and badly damaged a shop occupied by Wah Kee, fruiterer, and owned by Mr A. H. Herbert, and an empty shop owned by Mr F. C. Turnor. The re-cently-installed high-pressure water supply was instrumental in checking a further spread. Insurances: Wolfe’s stock and contents, £375; Turnor and Co.’s machinery and fittings, £2OO- - owned by Mr F. C. Turnor’ £515; Wah Kee’s shop, £2so;—all in the London and Liverpool and Globe office.
