CHURCH MEETING.
TUAPEKA AND WAITAHUNA. The annual meeting of parishioners of the parish of Tuapeka and Waitahuna was held in Holy Trinity Schoolroom, Lawrence, on Wednesday evening, at which there was a moderately good attendance, the Yen.' Archdeacon Richards' presiding. The report of the vestry called attention to the satisfactory state of the balancesheet, which showed a credit of over £5, all expenses of the year having been met out of the ordinary sources pi revenue. Services had been conducted, as usual, at Lawrence, Waitahuna, Waipori, Greenfield, and Beaumont. Messrs H. P. Pish and W. 8,. Smyth were appointed churchwardens for the ensuing year, and Messrs Blathwayt, Brooks, Donaldson, Jones, Knight, Martin, Moore, Peters, Simpson, and Wakefield a vestry. Votes of thanks were passed to the choir, Sunday school teachers, the Ladies’ Guild, Mr J. Thompson, and to all who had specially helped during the past year. A short discussion took place on the movement for introducing religious education into the day schools, and a motion was passed, with two dissentients, approving of the. platform of the Bible in State Schools League,. . At the close of the meeting some musical items were contributed, and refreshments handed round by the ladies.—Own correspondent.
