Fourteen members of the Cavershani Lodgfc Bazaar Committee met at the homo ot the secretary on Monday evening and a large amount of clerical work w» got through. A book of art-union tickets was sent to each member of the lodge, and an extra 30 were distributed amongst those present. It was reported that the meeting of Caversham ladies on the previous Friday was very enthusiastic, and, under the guidance of M rs List, they will immediate y commence work, meeting twice weekly to manufacture useful and ornamental articles. A sum of money was gxantcd to them for that purpose, and arrangemciits made for accommodation. The otter of two sewing machines from Messrs Forrester nnd Co was gratefully accepted. With r.P.G.M. Bro. 1. R, Lawxy as its energetic secretary and P.S. Bro. H. H ie absence of N.G .Bro. J. A Thomson, to whom the secretaiy was directed to forward a . message of sympathy on the continued illness ot his wife. P.G.Bro. J. H. Stewart, for the Management Committee, reported on the special business that had engaged their attention at a meet-in* held dmiiie the previous week. P.G. Bro. J. Moor! was the host of the evening, providintr a fruit service the while the members plavcd cards, and he was heartily thanked bv'hk lodge. Among the visitors were E.S *Bro Grenfell (Albion), P.G. Bro. P. Thomson (Hand and Heart), and P.G. Bro R M'Connell (Centenary). ' The Loyal Roxburgh Lodge met on Tuesday night, when Bro. T. P, Michelle presided over an excellent attendance of officers and brethren. The ledge gained three new members—two by initiation and one by clearance. Bro. W. Stringer gave the warden s charge, P.G. Bro. T. Waigth the instruction lecture, and G.M. Bro. J. H: Waigth the initiation charge. Bro. Gilchrist, and Bro. E. Orchard. A pleasant meeting was spent by the members of the Loyal Centenary Lodge on Tuesday night in the St. KildaMasonio Hall, when N.G. Bro. J. Hudson- and members of the Caversha-m Lodge paid a, visit and engaged in a. quoits tournament. The game, eight men a side, was won bv the Centenary players by 109 points to 104. N.G. Bro. J. Scott, who presided, thanked the Caversham Lodge for their visit, and hinted at a- return match. The printed reports of tbo Naselw meeting were circulated. G.M. Bro. R. M'Connell reported on the recent Disp-r.ri.mry Committee _ meeting, and war, thanked. An : invitation to a social evening was extended to.tho local fire brigade. N.G. Bro. HudI son and P.P.G.M." Bro. 'The meeting of the Prince of Wales Ledge (Port Chalmers) on Tuesday evening was a very quiet one. The attendance was only moderate, and it- was deemed desirable to postpone the conferring of degrees till next meeting. V.G. Bro. Clifford, who is leaving the district, bade farewell to the lodge in a characteristic speech, and said that his denai-ture would be to him a regrettable break in his work and associations in the lodge. P.G. Bro. Woltersdorf, on behalf of the- lodge, 6aid they were sorry to lose such a zealous worker as Bro. Clifford, and would always be pleased to hear of his success. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Alexandra Lodge (Port Molyneux) was held en Wednesday evening, N.G. Bro. J. G. Aitkeuhead presided. There was not much business. One member applied for and was granted a. clearance to the Loyal Albion Lodge. It was decided to Hold the annual ball towards "the end of next month, and a committee, was set. up to make the- necessary arrangements, with Bro. R. Wilson as secretary. The recess was devoted to games of card 6. N.G. Bro. C. Peake presided at the monthly meeting of the Loyal Tapanui 1/odge on Thursday evening, when there was a fair attendance. A committee was appointed to carry out the arrangements for a social next lodge night, the members of the local Foresters' Lodge and their lady friends to be invited. This form of entertainment- is substituted for a proposed card tournament between the two lodge?. A parade will be held on Sunday to All Saints' Church. The Loyal Albion Lodge ha-ve long enjoyed a reputation for their intense cultivation of the social aspect- of Oddfellowsbip, but last- night's meeting pretty well r-e-'ichod high water mark. Sligo did not recognise sonic of his brethren. The Port Lodge also turned out well with 18 members. The evening took tho usual form of harmony and light refreshment-, the programme being contributed to by Bros. Gawn, Sligo, Frewd, Flyrui, Bragg, Murdoch. Coughlan, and Wood, and P.'G. Bro. G. R. West was an able accompanist. Responses to the twist wete made by the N.G. of each lodge, the main theme, of course, being pleasure at the welcome and hospitalityaccorded by the Albion Lodge and the evidence of renewed energy in the parent iodge. Of the District Executive P.G.M. Bro. Coughlan. P.D.G.M. Bro. A. W. Palmer, and P.T. Bro. Ha-mcl were present, and briefly addressed the brethren. Bro. J. F. Arnold was racy and reminiscent in his reply, and hinted at, a lecturette on friendly society and national insurance matters on another occasion.
