PUBLIC BATHS.
TO THK KIUTOR. Sir, —The council would be wise if, when calling for a poll of the ratepayers fox a loan for erection, of public bating they left the question of site open for future consideration. By doing this they would disarm a. deal of opposition, and probably ensure the poll being carried. At the present moment the council are divided as to the site of the proposed baths, and, judging from the expression of opinion given by those who take an interest in- the matter, thore_ is a very decided opinion that the council will he committing a blunder in pledging ratepayers to the Moray place site. We are all convince*! as to the necessity for public baths, but while we are about it let us see they are put in the right place. A general election takes place next May. \Vhat is the necessity for puttihg the City to the expense of taking a poll any earlier?—l am, etc., Batepaykr. January 7.
