The directors of the Howard 'Smith Company are creating-a, new organisation, under the name of the Australian Shipping Company, 3Am.ted, to conduct their shipping business. Tho registered nominal capital is £2.000.000, in £1 shares. Tho company take over the Howard Smith interests at valuation, and the purchase money will he paid in shares of the near company. The same company are also taking over ih© whole of the interests of the Caledonian Colliery Company, which include the Wa.rat.ah, West Wallsend, West Wallsend Extended, Aberdare, and Aberda.ro Extended mines. The purchase money, it is understood, is the largest ever recorded in connection with the transfer of a British-owned property in Austral in. The new company will he registered as the Caledonian Collieries, Limited, with a capital of two million £1 shares. As in the rase of the shipping company, Howard Smith and Co. will be the managing agents, and will have a. controlling interest.
