TOTALIZATOR COMMISSION
The New South Wales Totalisator Commission havo practically concluded their investigations in Now Zealand, and two of the Commissioners (Messrs Bruntnell and Fitzpatrick) are already on their return voyage to Australia. The chairman (Hon. It. H. Levicn, M.L.A.) and four other members reached Dunodin by yosterday's first express from tho North, and a fifth (Alt H, Peters) arrives this afternoon from Christchureh. His absence yesterday left the Commission without a quorum, on which account they were unable to take tho. evidence of Sir Georgo M'Loan. who as president of tho Dunedin Jockey Club mot tho party on their arrival and escorted them to Wingatui. where they were shown over tho DJf.C. property. It is understood that no evidence will be tendered beforo the Commission in Dunedin, though they would havo been pleased to hear anv to-night if it had lieon forthcoming. In general it may be said that the Commission have neon favorably impressed with what they have seen of tho New Zealand racecourses and their appointments, and have appreciated the courtesy and attention shown them by our racing clubs. Tho Commission leave Dunedin on Monday to join tho Mooraki at tho Bluff. They »r« to hold sittings in Tasmania, at ilobj»rt and Launceston, after which their investigations will be pursued in tho other Australian States with the exception of West Australia.
