After praise and prayer. The Rev. G. H. Balfour, of l'jrsl Church, preached, his test being rrom Matthew xvi., verse 18. .aid Ephesians v.. i verses 25. 26. and 27. Tho preacher s sub- , ieet was "The Church of God,' and he | treated it with thoroughness. Chrtst , said- "1 will build Mv Church. Inei Church of Jesus Christ was the greatest and most wonderful institution ot all , human history. It represented the eternal i amidst changing tilings, the spiritual | amidst the material things of life. From j the Church of Jesus Christ had come all | the highest, beet, and meet undying things | wilich had been thr- means ot uplifting men j and leading them to God. It was trim j that the Church wa.- not- perfect. A<> j human institution could be perfect on . earth. The Chinch had had its tmperfec- | tons, it had sinned against God. and it ; had done manv things of which we woie ashamed. But*all down the aires the &pint of God had been working in and tinorgh the Church to give us the biwt. and tho he&t the world had to-day had come from j the Church of Jesus Christ. The Rev. J.
