Y.M.C.A.

A meeting of the Hoard of Directors of the Young Men's Christian Association was held at the rooms on Tuesday evening. Captain Strang (vice-president) occupying the chair. There were present Messrs Wm. Stevenson, J. M'Ara, T. Somerville, W. L. Riddel, Wm. Taylor, ,). Rider, J. I',. Waters, D. Leslie X. Paterson. .1. Gray, and the Rev. G. Heighway (representing the Council of the Churches).

A letter was received from Mr G. K. Moreton, one of the directors, intimating that, as requested, he was officially representing the Dunedin Y.M.C.A. at the British Conference at Leeds from Muv 16 to 19.

The question of the Association forming a cadet company was discussed, and it was resolved that no further action be taken in the matter.

The Rev. Canon Ciirzon-Siggers. M.A.. was elected an honorary vice-president of the Association.

The Finance Committee presented the monthly statements for the trust and general accounts, which were adopted. Accounts were passed for payment totaliiii" £897 16s 9d.

The Building Committee reported that the building was making good progress, a visit of inspection having recently been made by the Committee.

The Membership Committee presented the following membership applications fur acceptance:—Messrs G. 0. Metcalfe, J), frovan, G. L". Buckley, J. Gibson, \V. A. Sinclair, A. A. Dey.—Accepted. Reports were presented by the Religious, Social, and Physical Work Committees, ftlso from the junior department. The Boys' Residence Committee reported several new boys in the York place residence.

It was reported that the Ladies' Auxiliary had undertaken to assist in the opening ceremonies in connection with the new building by organising a sale of work. . The Secretary reported on a receut visit, to Milton in the interests of the Y.M.C.A. of that town.
