SOUTHERN PHYSICAL CULTURE CLUE. The above club held a successful Irasket social in the South Dunedin Town Hall on Friday evening, about forty-live couples being present. -Mr T. K. Sides', M.P., president of the dub, gave a short speech, mentioning tho good work done by the members, and recommended all tho young men present to join tho dub, MELBOURNE CLUB. The Melbourne Club held their social and dance last Friday evening in the Victoria Hall, and in spite of the inclemency ot the weather a largo .number of guests assembled, and a really enjoyable evening was spent, the dancing being kept up with spirit till 1 a.in. As regards tho social part, nothing could have been more pleasantly successful. Miss Faithful and Mr A. MTx*an jsccrotary) contributed songs, and Messrs Yales and Loath supplied the dance music. An excellent supper was provided. PIPE BAND SOCIAL. An enjoyable basket social was held in the Early Settlers’ Hall on Friday evening under the auspices of the Pipe Band. Dancing was started at 3.30, and was kept up witli vigor till 2.50 a.m. Pipers Craig and Morrison opened tho proceedings wdtn the grand march and Highland ochottische. During intervals various songs were e,ung by Mr D. M'Laren and others. Music was supplied by Messrs Blair (violin) and O’briscoll jpiano). Pipe-major MacCallnm. played for tho Scotch Reels, and Pipemajor MacCallum, Corporal Grant, and Drum-major Gilchrist efficiently carried out the duties o f M.C.s.
