(Received November 29, at 9.50 a.m.) The wharf laborers sought to have the constant hands' clause eliminated from the Wages BcaTd award. The .secretary, however, stated that if employers attempted t.sandwich in constant hands it would mean immediate industrial trouble. The application was dismissed. A SHIPPING CONFERENCE. MELBOURNE, November 29. A conference is being held between the waterside workers a.nd the Steamship Owners' Association. The workers are demanding an all-round increase.
