A man named Knight, who was engaged on a stoame.r trading between Sydney and New Zealand, was married in Now Zealand in August. He brought his wife- to Sydney, but subsequently &he disappeared. Knight states that ho found her living with a man named J'akm in Adelaide. Knight induced her to return to hira, bnt she again left him, and ho traced her and Paton to Glenelg. lie confronted them to-day,and, according, to Paton's 6k>ry, fired two shots at Paton, narrowly missing. Paion returned to his room to secure a revolver, and dining his absence he heard three more shots. He found Mrs Knight lying on the floor blooding from a severe wound. Knight surrendered himself to the police.
