Ulimaroa, 6.6., from Melbourne, arrived at the Bluff at 11.15 to-day, and is expected at Dunedin about one o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Drayton Grange, s.s., from Liverpool via Sydney is due at Dunedin about December 20, her other ports being Napier, Auckland, and Lyttelton. Marama, 6.5., which has made her reappearance in the intercolonial service for the summer months, berthed at the cross wharf at 12.20 yesterday, and this afternoon sailed for Melbourne via the Bluff ind Hobart. The wireless equipment of the Marama has bean transferred to the Moana, which has taken the Marama's place in the Vancouver service. Afghanistan, 5.6., from London direct, is due on Thursday. Pukaki, s.s., which arrived this morning from Westport direct, sails on Thursday in the time-table run to the West Coast. Vermont, 6.5., arrived yesterday to complete discharge of her cargo of case oils, after which 6he goes to Newcastle to load for Singapore. Kaitnna, s.s., sailed yesterday morning for Timaru. The Terra Nova, from Lyttelton, berthed at the Georgo street wharf yesterday evening at half-past eight o'clock. Turkistan, s.s., proceeded to Port Chalmers on Saturday afternoon, and moored alongside the Pakeha on the lay-up berth. COST OF NEWCASTLE HARBOR. Giving evidence before the Decentralisation Commission, Mr E. M. de Burgh,, thief engineer for Harbors and Water Supply, New South Wales, said, the total wharfage at Newcastle was 16,887 ft. Tho capacity of Newcastle for shipping was probably 30 to 40 per cent, greater than ihe beet year that had been recorded there. Newcr-stle Harbor had cost £2,215,037, md ofthat £1,042,000 had been fordredgng. The amounts included the cost of naintenance. Two-thirds of the tost of dredging was maintenance, and the other third was cost of improvement. It was advisable to deepen the entrance to the harbor.
