This step is considered a wise one, as often the quarter night happened during the Christinas holidays, and was a drawback to the officers and members.

President R.A. Pro. Matthew. on behalf of a well-wisher, presented Pro. Gilk.s with a hook as second prize in the recent recitation competition. A.D. Pro. C. K. Beasley presided over a large attendance of members and visitors at the quarterly meeting of the Otago Lodge on Wednesday evening. Two candidates were initiated. There are a large number of nominations for the various offices for the ensuing six months, and the members will be called upon next meeting night to elect. Harmony was contributed during the evening. A.D. Pro. Dodds < Ivanhoc lodge), A.D. Pro. M'Donald (Lily of the Valley Lodge), and Bro. Cayzor responded to the toast of the visitors.
