Mr, Wade and other Oppositionists attacked Mr Holm in V. administration of tho

Justice Department, especially regarding the release of Peter Bowling and the reprieve of Phillips, the nruredrer. Mr Holman retorted by accusing tho late Government of shortening the sentences of other criminals, which Mr Wado denied, starting that tho responsibility rested wrth Mr Garland (the Solicitor-General).

Air Wado moved a further amendment censuring the administration of the Justice Department, but this was defeated by 58 votes to 30. Tho Address-in-Reply was then carried on tho voices. THE NATIONALISATION CRY. THE FORTY MILLION TON OFFER. SYDNEY, November 23. Mr Edden (Minister of Mines) was asked if the Government intended to nationalise the whole of the coal mines. He replied that there were many mines which ho would not take as a gift, but if he was in office for six months a State coal mine would be an accomplished fact. On being asked if the Government intended to acopt the offer of 40.000,000 tons of coal, which, it turns out, does not include the land, Mr Edden replied that lie hoped they would not think him a madman altogether. They couldn’t, palm it, off on him.

Mr Healer retorted that the Government should make public the fact, and not allow the people to think that the offer was under Caiuade.raJ.ion.
