Tho American Tariff has not seriously affected Great Britain, except in regard to certain cotton and silk manufactures, steel, and some chemicals. Satisfaction is expressed in England that a, stop has been put to the ingenious methods practised by German, Dutch, and Japanese firms, to the detriment of British manufacturers, by ruidervaluing their goods, especially earthenware. It is understood that France and Germany are subject to the maximum tariff.
