The Intomationa! Congress against alcohol opened at Kensington. Many foreign delegates :>«> present. Sir John Cockbnrn. representing the Commonwealth, said that the children in AiMstrali.au State schools were instnicted in scientific temperance.
Sir H. Tozer (Agent-General for Queensland) hoped that the Congress would deal with the (poet-ion of alcohol as affecting natives.
