TROTTING CONFERENCE.

[Per United Press Association,] WELLINGTON, July 20. The New Zealand Trotting Conference opened to-day. Considerable discussion took place in reference to the action of the Executive in granting totalisator permits to the recentlyformed Wanganui Trotting Club. By 10 to 4 it was decided, upon the motion of MrTlowe (Auckland), to approve the action of the Executive. It was agreed to alter rule 92, providing that no prograinme should be either circulated or advertised, until it had been approved by the Association. On the motion of Mr Selig (Christchurch), it was decided to add to rule 107 “that no assumed name shall be used by any person other than the person who registers such name ” By 8 to 6 it was decided, on the motion of Mr W. Armstrong (South Wairarapa), that racing colors must be registered with the Association. Rule 185 was altered, and makes it an cfflencc, punishable by fine or disqualification, to “ knowingly employ as a racing stable hard, or in connection with the training or trotting of a horse, any person whose license has been suspended, withdrawn, or refused by the Association; but the fight was reserved by the Association to grant permits allowing the employment of any such persons. A motion by Mr Selig to repeal rule 186, which gives dubs the right to issue such permits or licenses, was lost. The following addition was made to rule 187:—“ Any person whose application for a license has been refused, or whose license has been suspended, or withdrawn by the Association, shall be guilty of corrupt "practice if be apply to a clerk for a license under ru1e.186.” The, proposed additions to the amateur rules were discussed. Two were negatived and one withdrawn.
