BOXING. j The Otago Boxing Association held a meeting at the Garrison Hall last night. and as usual the attendance was verv large. The sport was excellently conducted under the presidency of Mr S. S. Myers, who contrasted the American and Australian rules with those of New Zealand, saying that the latter wore based on lines that did away with horse-play and made the 6port clean and scientific. HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. The Executive of the Otago Hockey Association met on Tuesday evening, the president (Mr J. A. Park) in the chair. Correspondence was received from the Oamaru Hockey Club requesting information as to joining the Association. The secretary's Teply was confirmed. From the Gymnastic Club, forwarding the names of delegates-to the Association. Received, Uie delegates to

take office as from the annual meeting in accordance -with the rales. The Secretary reported that, as instructed, he had closed with the offer from the owners of the Forbury grounds, and had inspected them, with a view to pegging out the boundaries of playing grounds. There would be several grounds after providing for the requirements, and he thought the ladies might be allowed the use of them. The meeting expressed satisfaction at the altered position now that the ground difficulty had been overcome, and delegated the duty of marking out the areas and preparing a plan to the president and secretary, with power to deal with the clubs for the use of them. The Secretary reported that the' annual meeting might now be held at arvr convenient date, and it was decided to hold same in the first week in May; also, that a special 'general meeting be held the same evening to confirm amendments to rules. " HAERIERS. The official opening of the St. Andrew Club " was held yesterday afternoon from St. Clair as guests of the president, Mr E. Rosevear, thirty runners taking part, and a fair attendance of friends being present. Scott and Marshall, who were in charge of the ba.gs, laid the.trail aTound the second beaeh, up the hill, and along the seaward side of Cargill's Castle, thon striking round in a circle until upper Kew was reached, continued down Aliandale road, and home by way cf the main road, the run finishing in a fast sprint. The members adjourned to the tea rooms, and Mr Rosevear congratulated the club on such a splendid turnout. He mentioned that the Edmond Cup race was approaching, and he urged upon the members to go into training arid secure a higher position than they did last year. He then presented Mr T. Rosevear with a pair of rose bowls, as a marriage gift. Mr Rosevear thanked the members for their present. GOLF. The monthly medal match of the 'St. Clair Ladies' Golf Club was played off on Tuesday.
