CENTRAL MISSION.
The Central Mission: quarterly meeting was held last night in the Stafford Street Hall. The Rev. W. Slade occupied the chair, and thirteen other officials were present, including the Rev. E. 0. Blamires and Messrs J. Young and G. P. Bewley, circuit stewards. A very hopeful spirit prevailed throughout, the result of the success attending the Mission during the past quarter. The visit of the Rev. W. G. Taylor had resulted in considerable stimulation to the spiritual work, and the membership roll remained the same. It was reported that the Christian Endeavor Society had considerably increased as the outcome. The Sunday school superintendent also reported an increase in numbers on the roll and average attendance. The balance-sheet, read by Mr Bewley, was adopted. The income for the quarter for all purposes totalled £267 -13* 7d, special amounts included being as follows :—Collection for Dr Barnardo'g Homes, £lB ss; Bread Fund, £ll 15s; Sisterhood, £l2 Is ; anniversary (gross proceeds), £52 8s 3d. With the' aid of the amount from the anniversary, the - debt was reduced to the extent of £37. . Satisfaction was expressed at this result. The Chairman reported that the Rev. J. W. Burton, of the Fijian Hindustani Mission, would visit Dunedin in June as a foreign mission deputation. The 1 sanction of the meeting was given to the trnstees of the parsonage property in Fernhill to offer it for sale. Arrangements were discussed in regard to the harvest festival, to be held on Sunday next, and it was decided to decorate the Garrison Hall on Saturday afternoon.
