DUNEDIN COURSING CLUB.
Second' Day.—Saturday. The coursing commenced at 2 p.m., half an hour late. Mr ’T. Kelt again judged. A start was made with the Supplementary Stake. Results: —,. SUPPLEMENTARY STAKE. Winner, £5; runner-up, £2 IQs; third dog, £1 10s. ■ - , —First Round.— Mr J. Mitchell’s Bright Eyes (Merry Boy —Star Rose) beat Messrs Paterson and Robertson’s Pay Day.—Pay Day led a length, but worked wide. Messrs Probble and Stevenson’s Blonde (Better Days—Brunette) beat Mr L. Curtis’s Lady Elizabeth.—Blonde led five lengths, and though she often ran wide she never had the initial points cancelled. - ' Mr J. Taylor’s Pentridge (Daxiinghurst —Dusky Queen) beat Mr S. A. Jones’s Sol at ion.—Pentridge was up three lengths in front in a short race, the hare being a weak one, and Solution tilled on the other turn. Mr A. Brown’s Wilful Witch (President— The Witch) and Mr E. Greenslade’s Dorando (Kilty—Nellie Stewart) ran an undecided. Wilful Witch got unsighted in the run up. When slipped again Dorando raced past for a solid lead, and after turning ran wide, letting in Wilful Witch, but she turned it up, leaving Dorando to win alone. Messrs O’Hara and Sinclair’s Glenloth (Glenroy—Fleet) beat Mr C. J. Reeves’s Welcome Nugget.—Welcome Nugget was up three lengths ahead, but could not work so closely as Glenloth. MAIDEN STAKE. Winner, £SO; run-ner-up, £10; two dogs, £4 each. —Third Round.— Mr A. Feams’s Sorcery (President—The Witch) beat Mr J. Janes’s Salute.—Sorcery led a length, and scored very freeb- after a strong hare, doing nearly everything till puss escaped. Mr A. Jones’s Bright Plume (Black Feather—Shy Lizzie) beat Mr C. Hay’s Captain Cook. —Captain Cook had the speed for a two lengths’ lend, but he moved heavily, and Bright Plume had no difficulty in making a fair score. Mr J. Jones’s Wolf Schnapps (Gold Link—Fanny Parnell) beat Mr A. Brown’s Roosevelt. —Wolf Schnapps won on speed, being up two lengths ahead, and romping over- the other. Messrs Paterson and Robertson's Little May (Separator—Lady May) led Mi- J. Ward’s Zetland Lady four lengths, and pretty well held possession, ending with a kill. OPEN STAKE. First dog, £2O ; runnerup, £7 10s; and third, £2 10s. —Second Round.— Mrs A. Aitkens’s Kerghery’s Gift (Andy Flanagan—Ace of Diamonds) beat Messrs Price’s Gold Band.—Kerghery’s Gift was favored by a weak hare, but he at once turned and killed. Mrs J. Penman, jun.’s Silverstream (Waterloo—PortergaS Jill) beat Mr G. G. Todd’s Admiration.—Silverstream led a ■length after a good race, and did twothirds of the work. ‘ Messrs Price’s Mather Machree (Faugh-a-ballagh Bangle) beat Mrs J. Penman’s, jun., Watermark.—There was nothing in the run up, but thereafter Mather Machree had the advantage. Watermark appearing to run a bit cunning.
