In connection with the over-supply and low state of the oat market the New Zealand and Shaw-Savill Shipping Companies have conjointly chartered the steamer Den of Ruthven to load grain for England at Timaru, Lyttelton, and the Bluff. There will be a large shipment of Bluff oats by this vessel, and that should tend to reduce stocks and improve the market. The present quotations range between Ig I'd and Is 2d, o.t.c.s.
