AMUSEMENTS.
WIDE-WORLD PICTURES. Tlhe management of the Wide-World Picture Company seem to hit the public fancy in the programme which they select from week to week. They are always of great variety,, and no matter what particular class of pictures are shown, they always seem to be popular, in that they are capable of attracting crowds of people during the whole time they are on view. The films are the finest procurable from the most prominent makers, and with the excellent machine operated by Mr S. Lean, the management have certainly obtained the latest in moving cinematography. The entertainment makes a punctual start, and is always out in respectable time, this beiiig an important consideration. The music provided by Mr Frank Crowthcr and his capable orchestra as the pictures are screened is most appropriate. The customary large audience greeted the presentation of last night's new programme, which was quite, up to the usual standard. A film showing the latest methods and systems adopted in agriculture in the Argentine proved most interesting, and then the dramatic story of Barbara Fritchie held the audience in its grip for a few minutes. A picture indicating Harry Lauder's popularity was next . exhibited. A panorama of Benares, India, and some views of Moorish cavalry manoeuvres were both attractive items. A picture of Wilbur Wright, who is now known as the " Bird-man," cruising in his flying machine, was a good subject, as was also one of the series of detective tales entitled " Nick Carter." A big budget of amusing and humorous films were shown, the following being the best appreciated: "Taking Home the Eggs," "Dust in His Eyes," " Jimmyas Stove-fitter," and . " Ma-in-law Has All the Luck." The same series will be on exhibition to-night. A matinee will be held to-morrow. HIS/ MAJESTY'S. Cinqucvalli and the other talented members of Mr Harry Richards's Company drew another large audience to His Majesty's Theatre last night and kept them thoroughly amused, interested, and entertained until the fall of the curtain after the last turn. Tho same programme will be repeated tonight.
