SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.
BOXING. A committee meeting of the Otago Boxing Association was held last night in Mr K. S. Wilson's office. Mr Batt presided, and there was a large attendance of members. Correspondence and business in connection with the Otago Boxing Association's tournament, to be held next Wednesday and Thursday in the Garrison Hall, was dealt with. The secretary reported that thirty-eight entries had been received for the tournament, and that this constituted a record for the Dominion. The following officials we're appointed : —Referee, Mr R. Cook (of Timaru); judges, Messrs F. Shaw and C. Batt; clerk of scales Mr W. M'Donald. Mr Cook (of Timaru), who is appointed referee, is well and favorably known throughout the Dominion as one of the most capable referees, and he has the confidence of both public and competitors. A London cable states that Frank Wootton rode three winners at Kempton Park on Monday and three at Xewmarket vesterday, making nineteen this season. "
