ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS.
An inquest was held at Napier on the body of Cladius Walter Cato, who died as the result of a revolver shot. Constable Hodgson stated that he searched the clothing of deceased, and found two promissory notes, a telegram, and a memo, relating to money matters. The following verdict was returned :—'■ That the deceased died from the effects of a bullet wound, which wound traversed the brain and was inflicted by himself." Thomas Gebbie, aged seventy-nine, fell dead at Dannevirke yesterday* He complained of internal pain, but was walkinoabout, apparently all right. ° An Auckland' massage states that the body found in Manukau Harbor has been identified as that of William Taylor, a single man, twenty-eight years of age, who left his home at Poneonbv a week aero seeking work. As a capsized boat was found in the vicinity of the body, and the latter was fully clothed except for boots and socks, it is surmised that he came bv his death through the boat upsetting.
