MORNINGTON COUNCIL.
Last night's meeting of the Momington Korongh Conned was attended by the Mayor (Mr H. A. Le Cren), Crs William Henderson, D. X,col, A. H. -BtuW T. MCrone, A. C. Birt, HL Dickon, and F ' Anderson. !
The Finance Committee showed th-e position of the accounts to be as under: District fund account—municipal, at debit fl' 9 ij ° s 10d: tramw !vys--debit. £6,768 iif- in wa , t f rworks loan account—credit, £so 10s. The Committee recommended that tn© following accoants be passed for payment:— Tramways £6OB 13s Sd, inuniripal £685 15s lid, and waterworks £95 4s Id.—Adopted. The Tramways Committee reported that the traffic returns for February were : Main line. 28.610 passeiigers down, 53.495 up ; Maryhill line. 3.212 down, 4.096 up; Klgin road line, 3,881 down. 4,429 up; which. with forty school children at Id, amounted to £695 4s 6d.—Adopted. The Water Committee's report computed the amonnt of water consumed duriii" February at 1,141.C00ga1, of which 114.000 had been consumed by the tramways. Cln? e on 1,000 house connections had heen put in. and of the?e 540 were now taking water.— Adopted. Resolved that the Council's appreciation of the efforts of Or Henderson (chairman of the Water Committee) be placed on record. A resolution fixing the water rate at 5A per cent, was carried.
