WAIHOLA REGATTA. The above regatta will be held on Tuesday, the 23rd, Anniversary Day, and those desirous of having a good day's outing cannot do better than take a trip to Waihola. Besides being an ideal picnic spot, visitors will at the same time be able to witness the regatta. Entries close on Monday, 15th hist., and it is anticipated that they will be very good this year, as crews are expected from Christchurch to the Bluff. The Otago Bowing Association are doing all in their power for the conveni- 1 ence of visitors, and have all the arrange- j ments for the regatta well in hand. The | Interprovincial Fours for the Edmond Challengo Shield is causing a lot of interest, and the Otago boys are determined to turn the tables on their Southland rivals thi6 year. Special train arrangements are being made for the occasion. Given a fine day the public can rest assured on having a good day's sport. The programme for the regatta includes a ladies' race and a motor boat race. CLUB-SWINGING RECORD. The match between Tom Burrows and Driver Beamish, of Middelburg, Cape Colony, took place at Durban, Natal, concluding on January 23. Both Burrows (who visited . Dunedin last year) and Beamish kept goinc for 66h 20min, Burrows winning on points. The winner took 75 per cent, and the loser 25 per cent, of the purse (£100). The army champion also received a present of £5 from the management. The figures established constitute a new world's record. ROWING. The weather conditions last overling were very favorable for the rowing off for the D.A.B.C.'s Pair-oar Cup. Mazcngarb's crew succeeded in getting well off the mark, and gained about three lengths in the first 100 yds, but Reid's crew then gained within about a couple of lengths. Mazengarb kept a steady stroke until within about 100 yds of the post, then sprinted, and succeeded in winning by about three lengths. The race ended : C. R. Mazengarb (stroke) and J. Bode (bow) 1, C. Reid (stroke) and H. Haynes (bow) 2. E. Hay coxed the winning crew. BOWLING. Barr, A. Collie, A. Scinerville TAHUNA TROTTING CLUB. A special general meeting of members of the Tahuna Park Trotting Club was held last night, and attended by eleven members. Mr G Hodges vvice-prcsident) took the chair, and apologised for the absence of Mr W. J. Gore (president), who had sprained an ankle. The Chairman said that the rlub had recently purchased portion of Forbury Park, and it was necessary hofore the iss-ning of debentures to pay for the purchase to change the name of the club. He submitted this motion:—" That the name of the club be altered to the Dunedin Trotting Club." Mr L. C. Haziett seconded. Mr J. Jeffs said he thought it might lead to confusion as between "the Dunedin Jockey Club and the Dunedin Trotting Club if they passed the motion, and be therefore proposed that the new name be the Forbury Park Trotting Club. Mr T. Elliott seconded the amendment. Mr F. Johnston remarked that some day a new trotting club might start and claim the title of the Dunedin Trotting Club, and to strangei-s it would look as if it were the leading club. Mr J. A. SKgo spoke in favor of the amendment. The amendment was carried by 6 to 2. The Chairman proposed that" the following new rule be added: —"That so long as any of the debentures issued by the trustees of the property of the club pursuant to the resolution of the Committee of the dub passed on the Bth of January, 1909, shall remain unpaid the holders of the said debentures shall be entitled to be present and to have a vote at ail annual or special meetings of the club or any adjournment thereof, in the following proportion : —Registered holders of debentures one vote for every £SO debenture held, with maximum of five votes, in addition to his ordinary vote as member." The club had purchased the new ground, and it was necessary to raise money to form the track and pay for fences, repairs, etc., and it was considered only right that any person who lent the money should have a vote, but no matter how many debentures a man held ho could not have more than five votes. Mr Jeffs seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously without discussion. This concluded the bnsiness. Sipmor has been scratched for the Svdney Gold Cup. - A Melbourne cable advises that Soultline. who went off a little after the Newmarket Handicap, has picked again.
