BURNSIDE STOCK SALES.
■ To-day. Sheep.—2,333 yarded. The number of sheep forward were much in excess of requirements. The large entry was made up ohielly of medium and inferior quality ewes, which were slow of sale even at prices from 2s to Us o<l under those obtained last week. Medium wethers suffered to tho extent of Is 6d to 2s per head. Best wethers and ewes were in short supply and wore keenly competed for, selling at prices slightly ei-sier than last week's. About ("500 sheep were passed in unsold. Quotations: Best wethers, 15s 6d to 17s; extra, 17a 6d to 19s ; medium, Lis (id t.) 14s 9d; light and inferior, lis to 13s; best ewes, lis 6d to 13s; extra, 15s to 17s; medium, 7s fid to 9s; light and inferior, 4s to us. Lambs.—l, 800 yarded. An exceptionally big yarding, the quality being good. Prices were a shade easier. Quotations : Best lambs, l'2s to 14s; medium, lis to lis 9d; light and inferior, 8s (3d to 10s.
Pigs.—l2o yarded. A fair yarding of small pigs. The fine harvesting weather kept many buyers from attending, and the sale was consequently dull, prices going down. Fat pigs met with a brisk sale, and prices in this line wore a little tinner. Quotations: Suckers, 10s to 12s ; slips, lls to 19s; stores, l?3s to 28s; porkers, 35s to 40s; light baconers, 4os to 555; heavv, 58s to 60s.
The cattle sale did not commence until late in the afternoon, owing to the lambs not being disposed of. The yarding consisted of 230 good-quality bullocks and heifers, and good prices are anticipated.
