DAHLIA AND SWEET PEA SHOW.
•*-- ■— Capital entries have come to hand for the autumn show of the Dunedin Horticultural Society to be held to-morrow. The leading flowers of this show—the cactus dahlia and the sweet pea—will form a magnificent display, and lovers of the latter flower will see the latest and finest varieties of the Spencer or frilled type, shown here for the first time—viz., Millie Maslin (a new cerise), St. George (extra bright scarlet), Mrs Hardcastle Sykes Iwhite with delicate pink wings), Elsie Herbert (white with deep pink edging), A. J. Cook (charming delicate blue), Mrs Chas. Foster striking lavender), Sutton's Queen (cream with pink edge), etc. The other classes are also well filled. The exhibition of fruit, in particular, should be of outstanding excellence, and, taken altogether, the Plan Committee are likely to find the Garrison Hall not too large to contain the various exhibits.
